My Journey through Poetry: About Me
Green Typewriter

I am You

My mind thought the same thoughts

Creatd an alterego

Fabricated a front

To impress so called friends and be down

To try and get parents to understand the mysteries of

and not so mysterious me

My ears have heard                               the same sounds

Fought against                   muffled background

                                                  Heard the same voices

Silently screamin' you fail the magazine cover test

The paper bag is no longer a threat

You define the difference between white mocha and chocolate

But your shade is never enough

My eyes saw the same visions

                                                                                  Have scars from painful events

Tricked by the looking glass about where the beauty is, the smarts lie

                                                                                                    Reflected on a past

Closed and prayed for a better future

My mouth had the same vocabulary

Gracing the air wit cries of independence , understanding and acceptance

Struggling to express the care and love overflowing from the heart

                                                                    Repeating itself

                                      A broken record

To form long lasting self esteem

A confidence shining longer than at start

My heart felt the same feelings

Expressed the same emotions

Angry because of double crossing

Heavy with early            pressure of so called love

Hardened by the blame of others

My feet traveled the same journey

Took the narrow road

But somehow came to the wrong stop

Running from my Achilles heel

Ended up coming right back

My footprints grow deeper in the sand

As you venture through life

At crossroads between solo and dependent

I write your words on my tongue ---- I speak for you

I put your pain in my fists ---- I fight for you

I put your thoughts in my mind ---- I create for you

I put your emotions in my heart ---- I feel for you

I put your visions behind my eyes ---- I cope and deal, wit you

If your hands and knees are sore from praying ---- I pray for you

If you can't go on ---- I share my strength wit you

                    You are never alone

Invisible as a shards of glass

                  Your hopes ---- my hopes

                    Your fears ---- my fears

I am You ,  You are me

But my prayer is for you

                               To be a better me
