Every Christmas I am asked to write a poem for the Annual Christmas program. Because today is my Church mom's birthday. Here is a poem I wrote about Jesus's mom, Mary.
" When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18Â and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19Â But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart."
Pondered them in her heart... I wondered what that was like..Â
We follow the light
in the midst of life's shadow
My soul thirsts for youÂ
before I knew youÂ
My heart needed youÂ
before its beat became a song
as we fall on our kneesÂ
reverence your graceÂ
you changed our walkÂ
from thunder to peace
in one holy night
after your first breath
all troubles releasedÂ
your life became a beaconÂ
to guide our sinful feet
your presence became a standardÂ
no human kind can beat
my soul thirsts for you
before i knew you
the world cried for you
our needs you knewÂ
a strong message to the weary
you will bless us with hopeÂ
brighten the lives of the dreary
for on this holy night
we accept our rights divineÂ
we forget our pain
we revel in your comingÂ
in your eyes we are enough
in our hearts your will is breathing
be blessed in your marvelous worth
the way you came to honor us
your creation
is a witness humble can be great
we fall on our knees
 in reverence of your strength
we fall on our knees
in gratitude for your love
in amazement
the love that knows no bounds
the love that heals all heartsÂ
the love that wins all wars before they start
this deep love calls to meÂ
in the roar of your waterfalls
in the rolling of your hills
in the bright of your light
from the heavenly star
that prefaced your divine arrival
cover meÂ
cover us
embrace me
embrace usÂ
the world is yet to understand your beauty
show us warmth
show us humilityÂ
show us compassion
show usÂ
teach us unity
Our soul thirsts for youÂ
before we knew youÂ
Ours heart needed youÂ
before our beat became humanity's song
each dayÂ
we are guided by your light
each hour
filled with your hope
each minute
break our chainsÂ
while you are forever by our side
cover meÂ
cover us
embrace me
embrace usÂ
the world is yet to understand your beauty
show us warmth
show us humilityÂ
show us compassion
show usÂ
teach us unity
because fear lost it's hold
when you were born
on this holy night
